Los días 24 y 25 de febrero han sido unos de los días más tristes en la historia del siglo XXI. El pueblo ucraniano se encuentra bloqueado en un país en estado de alerta militar por la invasión rusa. O quizás para ser exactos, por los anhelos geopolíticos de Putin.

Sea como sea, y sin entrar en detalles, creo que no deberíamos olvidar en ningún momento el valor humano que está en juego. Sí, sé que está no es la única guerra que se está librando en la actualidad y que las otras también deberían importarnos, completamente de acuerdo; soy completamente consciente de esa parte del egoísmo en el ser humano que se ve en el hecho de que solo nos suele interesar aquello que tiene una influencia más o menos directa en nosotros.

En cualquiera de los casos, no es justo que gente inocente se vea obligada a encerrarse en sus casas presa del miedo, escuchando como bombardean aeropuertos y puentes, y viendo cómo se agotan sus vías de escape.

Como sucede con otros temas, ahora mismo nos encontramos con un problema a gran escala en el que tenemos que buscar cómo podemos aportar a nivel individual. Si quieres aportar porque piensas que hoy es Ucrania y que mañana quién sabe, de acuerdo; si lo quieres hacer porque te hierven la sangre las injusticias, también de acuerdo; si tienes otra razón, pues genial.

Se están convocando manifestaciones por Europa y otras partes del mundo para demostrar el apoyo al pueblo ucraniano a las que puedes asistir. ¡La manifestación de Hamburgo del día 25 sorprendió a todos los allí presentes habiendo reunido a más de 5000 personas! Además, hay varios grupos y asociaciones en los que se puede colaborar para ayudar a los exiliados de la guerra. ¡Puedes ayudar incluso compartiendo una historia en tu Instagram!

¡Por favor, no podemos cerrar los ojos y mirar a otro lado!

The 24th and 25th February have been some of the saddest days in the history of the 21st century. Ukrainian people find themselves blocked in a country declared as state of emergency because of Russia’s invasion. Or to be more accurate, because of Putin’s geopolitical nostalgia.

Anyway, we just cannot ignore the human value that is in play now. Yeah, I know this is not the only war which is being fought for at the moment and that we should also care about other wars. I completely agree and I am aware that there is a part of egocentrism in all human beings that make us focus more on what could have a relatively direct influence or impact on us.

In any of the cases, it is just unfair that innocent people might be forced to lock themselves in their houses or in metro stations, full of fear, while they have to listen how airports and bridges are being bombed and how they run out of way outs to escape the disaster.

We are facing now a large scale problem. As it happens with other topics, I am not going to deny that perhaps we cannot have a major, decisive influence as individuals. However, that does not mean there is nothing we can do to support Ukrainian people.

In moments like these, it is less important why you show your support: fear, anger, or any other reason.

In moments like these you realize what is truly important. Job, property, money: those become superficial things in this context, and I think we can all find some time to get out of the bubble we are living in and show support. Just take action!

Peaceful manifestations where you can actively take part in are being called around Europe and other parts of the world to show support to the Ukrainian population. Hamburg’s 25th February’s demonstration gathered more than 5000 people and I think no one expected that! Besides, there are some groups and organizations you can collaborate with to help those exiled Ukrainians. You can even help by sharing a story on your Instagram account!

Please, we cannot turn a blind eye this time!
